Police Operation in Sungai Buloh
More than 120 individuals were arrested during a police operation targeting illegal gambling and cock fighting activities in a rural area of Sungai Buloh, as reported by The Star.
The raid took place in Melwood Arena and followed months of surveillance by Bukit Aman’s Anti-Vice, Gambling, and Secret Societies Division (D7). The operation, codenamed “Ops Dadu Mega,” was led by officers from the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and supported by 94 personnel, including members of the Drone Unit and Veterinary Department.
Details of the Arrests and Seizures
According to Deputy CID Director Datuk Fadil Marsus, the arrests included 46 Malaysian nationals and 78 Indonesians. Those detained are alleged to have taken part in cock fighting events and illegal lottery games. Items seized from the scene included 52 live chickens, seven chicken carcasses, gambling paraphernalia, and cash totaling RM145,855.
Investigation and Legal Actions
The case is being investigated under Section 4A(a) of the Open Gaming House Act 1953, as well as provisions under the Immigration Act. Authorities suspect the operation had been active for several months and involved organized networks.
Public Cooperation Urged
Datuk Fadil urged the public tо cooperate with the authorities by reporting any suspected illegal gambling activities. He said community support was vital іn tackling such crimes and pledged continued action tо disrupt unlawful betting and animal cruelty operations.
